24/7 DIARY ENTRY

Dear Diary
January 22
From Brucie to Noosie in less than three days, DrugEmporium.com what is your secret?  The order that I placed on Wednesday (January 19) with next day delivery has not arrived yet -- today is Saturday (January 22).  I did not expect the order to arrive on Thursday (January 20); it should, however, have arrived by today.  They are consistent; I had a similar experience with an order that I placed with them at the end of December, 1999.

I went to the DrugEmporium.com website to check on the status of my order.  The website indicated that the order just shipped and it is scheduled to arrive on Monday (January 25) via UPSground service.  One problem is that I ordered next day service (maybe all orders read as "ground" service?).  In addition, DrugEmporium.com sent me a shipping confirmation email at 4:07 pm today.  I fired off the email below in response to their shipping confirmation email.

Dear DrugEmporium.com

Congratulations, you have earned a NOOSIE for poor service on shipping this order.  I placed the order on January 19 with NEXT DAY delivery requested.  You managed to take a couple of days to get the order out, and then managed to send it with GROUND service.  Not the way to treat a customer, and particularly no way to treat a customer who earlier in the week gave you a Brucie (i.e., praise -- go to http://people.bu.edu/celtics/entry011900.html).

I did my part and purchased more than $75 when placing my order (and I was careful to select the NEXT DAY option).  You dropped the ball and did not keep your end of the bargain.

You'll need to come up with something good to make up for this and have any hope of retaining me as a customer (and until now a supporter and advocate).  Promising me free next day delivery in the future has no value to me.  You need to offer me something pretty good to retain me as a customer.  I was going to use the second 25% off code you sent me.  Now there is no way that I will use it; yes, I am perturbed.

By the way, notice that YOUR email indicates NEXT day service, but the UPS tracking number indicates GROUND delivery service.

Sincerely yours,

Bruce D. Weinberg
