that I did not give you a Noosie.
Amy, warming the cockles of my heart, placed an order with JustPretend.com
last Thursday (May 18); they were having a 50% off everything online sale
with free shipping on all orders (yeah baby, now you understand why the
cockles were toasty). Amy told me that the site promised an email
confirmation. As of Friday (May 19), she had not received one.
She called the toll free number (listed in the catalog) of Just Pretend
and found out that the online business is handled separately and that it
could not confirm her order (the Barnes &
Noble business model is spreading). On Saturday, assuming that
the order was toast, Amy sent another online order and specified that if
the first order was received to fill only one of the orders.
As of Sunday (May 21), Amy had still not received confirmation. I almost gave them the Noosie yesterday. Never taking the Noosie lightly (you know, that scientist thing), I first visited JustPretend.com to see their posted information about confirmations. The following is posted on their website: "Within 48 hours of placing your order (excluding holidays and weekends), you will receive an e-mail from Just Pretend confirming your purchase and providing you with an order number. Your credit card will be charged when your order ships." This suggests that Amy should have received a confirmation by Monday (today), so, yesterday, I held off on the Noosie (easy Fido). Well, it is Monday and Amy has been a little unsettled over this order. As a husband and consumer advocate for the people, I can not sit idly by and watch her dream of seeing the boys engaged in pretend play as knights entertaining dragons go kablooey (I believe the order included a wooden castle -- the two boys are getting into medieval play). In one final effort to keep the world's Noosie population from growing, I called the toll free number that was listed under customer service at JustPretend.com. The service assistant, though very friendly and competent, could not find either of Amy's online orders "in the system." I did learn that Just Pretend is going to be online only very soon. She said that if Amy did not receive order confirmation by tomorrow, that she could call up and place the order over the telephone and still get the discounts and free shipping. Nevertheless, as it is written, as it is done. Noosie to JustPretend.com. I must admit to a pinch of mixed emotion here. JustPretend.com JustMightBeGettingOverwhelmed with online orders because of these online deals and JustMight have much to learn about getting online orders smoothly into the fulfillment process. On the other hand, fulfilling orders should not be anything new to Just Pretend, as it has been in the catalog business for quite some time. |
