| I stumbled upon another "Service is Suspended" dotcom today.
The company is AtoZ e-grocery and its Web address (if it still exists while
you read this) is http://www.atoze-grocery.com/atoze-grocery/index.html.
I came upon it while I was looking for a mothball block. Both
Homeruns
and Peapod have mothballs made by Enoz,
but I wanted a mothball block (to be used in my closet that holds my suits,
blazers and such -- though I rarely wear these clothing items anymore as
the dotcom outfit is a bit more casual and to my computer science roots
liking). To try and find some alternatives, I typed "Enoz moth" with
the quotes in the search window of AltaVista
and a link led me to AtoZ e-grocery -- life is grand. (Incidentally,
searches for "moth balls" and "mothballs" were not terribly helpful.).
Another site that came up during my search for a mothball block was from
the EPA. This particular EPA site changed my tune and desire for
moth balls -- http://www.epa.gov/grtlakes/seahome/housewaste/house/products.htm.
I had been looking for a moth prevention product to protect my clothing that ideally contained Naphthalene. The EPA says that "Napthalene can enter your system through inhalation, skin absorption, ingestion, and eye and skin contact. Napthalene may produce possible damage to eyes, liver, kidneys, skin, red blood cells, and the central nervous system. Hemolytic anemia, caused by the breakdown of the red blood cells, has been reported following immediate and long-term exposure. Infants exposed to clothes, blankets, and diapers stored in naphthalene mothballs are at risk for hemolytic anemia. Mild degrees of anemia often cause only slight symptoms like a lack of energy and fatigue. In more severe cases, hemolytic anemia can cause acute kidney failure." Oh, that's nice. I'll be trying cedar products from now on if that's allright with you mum. eStyle sent me an email indicating that my Snap-N-Go-LX that I ordered was shipped today. I wanted to place a Homeruns order today, but Amy didn't have time to put together her needs, which was fine with me as I was feeling a bit wiped out and too tired to place an order. |
