24/7 DIARY ENTRY

Dear Diary
June 28
Janet stopped by today without anything to deliver from the USPS.  She -- of the USPS -- stopped by in her Budget van to let me know that her son just threw out all of his Batman toys and matchbox cars.  Thank goodness she stopped by as I was about to place some orders with merchants that use USPS for delivery so that I could see her and pass along the VCR research that I did for her (see June 23).  She felt badly that her son had done this after she offered to dig them out and bring them over.  No problemo; I felt bad that some of the Mercata Powerbuys for VCRs had expired.  We exchanged email addresses so that I could pass along to her some of the VCR research that I did for her.

Around
Recall that yesterday I sent in an email request for a home visit and test drive with Clair Motors:
Dear Clair,

I sent in a request using your form on Sunday for a home visit and test drive of an ML320 with 3rd row seats.  I haven't heard from you so I'm trying to reach you using your listed email address.  My home number is (number withheld), however, the best way to reach me is via email.  Drop me a line and let's come up with a time for you to come over.

Sincerely,
Bruce D. Weinberg

And around
I received an email this morning at 9:23am from a Clair Motors Internet salesperson (not the one specifically for their Mercedes Benz dealership) about my home visit request:
"Good Morning Bruce:  I am sorry you have had a problem with the form on our web site, I have asked our MIS dept., to research this further.  I have assigned (name withheld) to assist you with the purchase of the ML320.  He will be in at 11:00 today and will be contacting you at that time.  If I can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact me directly.

Sincerely,
Clair Motors
(name withheld)
Internet Sales Adm."

And around it goes
The salesperson that was assigned to me sent me an email at 1:30pm:
Hi Bruce

Thank you for your inquiry on the Mercedes ML320.We do have a few in stock and some on the way in.Please give me a call at (telephone number withheld) or Email me at (address withheld -- it did not appear to be an email address dedicated for the use by this salesperson). We can discuss colors, options, pricing and whatever other questions you might have.
Thank you again,
(name withheld)

Where it will end
I sent an email reply to the salesperson at around 3:00pm; in addition, I called him over the telephone and left a voicemail as a person did not answer the phone.  My email read as follows:
(salesperson name withheld),

Thanks for the email.  I'll give you a buzz in a few minutes.  My home number is (number withheld).  Let's set up a time for a home visit so that I can inspect the ML320 and try it out.

Bruce

Nobody knows
The salesperson did not reply via email.  He called my house sometime between 7:00pm and 9:30pm (I was out) and left a message for me to call him between 12 noon and 9:00pm tomorrow.

I am impressed already with the number of back and forth emails and telephone calls that are being generated in order to have someone come over to my house for a visit with an ML-320  (by the way, the Clair Motors website indicates that they offer this service).  I'm going to resort to email from my end for the rest of the way.  It will be interesting to see how many more email messages and telephone calls (from the salesperson) will be completed prior to the occurrence -- assuming it happens -- of the home visit.
