| It was a wonderful day until I pointed out the silver colored Mercedes
Benz. We had a family day today and went down to Nantasket
Beach for a picnic, swimming and to ride the carousel. For the
carousel ride, Ben went on a horse for the first time -- one that goes
up and down no less; Sam still prefers to sit in the "cart." We sat
along the beach wall with our beach umbrella; I've become one of those
old people who prefers to minimize sun exposure when possible. The
land lovers, Sam, Kate and I, hung out on the blanket while the water lovers,
Amy and Ben, jumped around in the water. Amy packed a terrific lunch
and a good time was had by all.
In the evening, Amy and I went out for dinner at Charleys
on Newbury Street -- woohoo, we
had a babysitter. On the way to the restaurant, I pointed out a silver
colored Mercedes Benz to Amy and asked her what she thought as the 2001
Odyssey
is supposed to be available in a new brighter silver. She liked it;
in fact, she asked if the wait for the Odyssey would be any longer were
we to switch our color choice from dark emerald pearl (i.e., dark green)
to silver. Oy vay. As we ate our dinner outside along the sidewalk,
we discussed many things and enjoyed the perfect weather and the people
watching (and of course the eavesdropping on conversations by the younger
set sitting at tables near us). One of our conversations was about
the color silver for a minivan -- see, it ain't over til it's over,
Amy liked the silver color on the Mercedes. I told her that the silver
on the Odyssey may not be as good because Mercedes has an awesome silver
paint color. I wished that I had kept my mouth closed as I felt some
relief in having finally placed the order for an Odyssey. Still,
Amy deserves full information and as I have mentioned before, silver might
be darn good color for a minivan -- as long as it is a good bright silver,
not a grayish toned silver. It is remarkeable to me that the 2001
Odyssey is not available in red, black or blue (blue was available for
the 1999 and 2000 model years).
Luis Castillo RBI Watch (Through August 21, 2000) Number of Hits......Batting Average......Number
of RBI......Runs Scored
Luis went 2-4, however the Marlins got blanked by the San Francisco Giants 6-0. He leadoff the first inning by striking out (looking). In the third inning, with two out and no one base, he grounded out to the second baseman. In the sixth inning with one out, Luis singled to left field. In the eighth inning, again with one out and no on base, he got on with a bunt single down the third base line (a dying art). (These data are obtained from ESPN.com.) |
