24/7 DIARY ENTRY

Dear Diary
October  5
Old man winter will be coming to town soon.  I placed an order with Lands' End tonight (e.g., flannel sheets for the boys, winter jackets, khakis for me).  I liked the online option of either perusing their online catalog and selecting items by clicking on the SELECT button or by typing in the item number from the catalog (I did a little of each).  I did have some questions about certain items and I loved the availability of a Lands' End Live Shopping Assistant.  An excerpt from my chat with Susan R. follows:

Susan R:                 Welcome to Lands' End Live! How may I help you?
Bruce Weinberg:     Does #5929-3B29 in catalog = #5929-3AE9 online? And is the little kids small size the same as 4T? Thank you.
Susan R:                 Yes it is the same style number.
Susan R:                 The small is a 4T / 4
Susan R:                 Does that help you?
Bruce Weinberg:     Dear Susan, thanks for your help. I will now select my product with e-confidence :-)
Susan R:                 You're very nice & funny Bruce! Thank you for using Lands' End Live!
Bruce Weinberg:     (My final comment for now, I promise) Thank you...I'll have some other questions later. Thanks again.

What a wonderful interaction..  Hey, Lands' End and Susan R., well done; you have earned a Brucie for the great online chat help.  I believe that online chat assistants are very important and I predict that we will be seeing a lot more of them.  In fact, I predict that consumers will come to expect this service from the best and most trusted e-commerce websites.

Other little details that I liked about the Lands' End website:

1) Ease in modifying any part of an order,
2) Ease of getting to any product category webpage from any other webpage (e.g., lots of links within easy reach),
3) Ability to store key order related information in a database for future use, and not have to enter it again (e.g., name, address, etc.), and
4) ALL of their products can be ordered online (this is actually a very important element).

In case, your wondering, the HomeRuns order came at 11:30 am.  Good job HomeRuns.  Ah, why not, a Brucie for ya.
