24/7 DIARY ENTRY

Dear Diary
October 12
Today, I participated in the Wall Street Journal Millennium Forum on The Evolution of Commerce at Harvard Business School.  The makeup of the 60-75 participants was fascinating and the discourse during the Forum was exciting.  The Summit (as Tom Petzinger, Jr. -- editor of the Millennium Edition of The Wall Street Journal -- called it) was cosponsored by The Wall Street Journal, Microsoft, Forrester Research and The Harvard Business SchoolBrucies all around for putting together a great day.

NBC News filmed the proceedings for a one hour prime time news show that will be aired on CNBC, and for a series of short spots that will be shown on CNBC International.  The prime time news show is scheduled to be broadcast on October 22, 1999.  NBC news anchor Brian Williams will host the show.  Hopefully, not everything I said will end up on the editing room floor.

A partial list of the participants:
Steve Ballmer - President, Microsoft Corporation
Tim Berners-Lee - Director, The World Wide Web Consortium (and inventor of the World Wide Web)
George Colony - CEO, Forrester Research
Esther Dyson - Chairmen, EDventure Holdings
Harvey Golub - Chairman and CEO, American Express
Peter Kann - Chairman and CEO, The Wall Street Journal
Ray Kurzweil - Inventor, Entrepreneur
Mary Meeker - Managing Director, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter
Walter Mossberg - Columnist, Wall Street Journal
Michael Porter - C. Roland Christensen Professor of Business Administration, Harvard Business School
Sherry Turkle - Professor of Science, MIT
Bruce Weinberg - Internet Shopper 24/7 and e-commerce shephard
Brian Williams - Anchor and correspondent, NBC News
Edward Wilson - University Research Professor, Harvard University
David Yoffie - Max and Doris Starr Professor of International Business Administration, Harvard Business School

The extent of my online activities today (during breaks in the Forum) were:

10:15 am - sending an email to my class, and
3:15 pm - checking my email during a break at the Forum.

The bulk of my Lands' End order arrived today.  Woohoo, runtime.  I made a special request to have enclosed a personal card to my wife and to make sure that the delivery occurred after Sunday (as I was away and I don't like packages sitting outside when I am away).  Lands' End carried out  my special request.  Well done, Lands' End; another Brucie for doing something special for me.
