Dear Diary
October 13
I began looking for dress shoes online; and I watched the Red Sox lose to the Yankees.

My day began as usual.  I descended downstairs, headed over to the computer, turned it on, read my email and sent out email.  These activities were not done linearly.  For example, I'll put a bagel in the toaster and get back online while it toasts.

At the end of the day, I began looking for dress shoes.  I need a pair of black shoes to go with my dark colored business clothing.  I followed AltaVista.com's recommended dress shoe shopping links.  I did not see a single website that provided useful directions for careful foot measurement, thereby improving the odds that I would get the correct size.  In addition, the product descriptions did not provide much information about shoe fit.  Nevertheless, I will move forward soon and make a shoe purchase.

After dinner and through the evening (actually, I pulled an "all-nighter") I worked on a consulting report for a client.  I wanted to watch the Red Sox-Yankees game on television.  Unfortunately, I did not have time to do this.  I did find online, however, a neat way to keep abreast of the game without interrupting my consulting work.  At ESPN.com, they have a product called Gamecast.  In essence, an IM (instant messenger) window provides a pitch by pitch report on the game.  I kept the Gamecast window open in the upper right section of my monitor in order to keep tabs on the game as I prepared my consulting report.

I can't believe that Wilt The Stilt is gone.  He was an impressive basketball player who had a great impact on the NBA.  My mother in law was in a journalism class with him at The University of Kansas.
