| Using ESPN Gamecast on the Internet,
I watched the Red Sox lose to the Yankees,
and thereby get eliminated from the Major
League Baseball playoffs. (I believe the Yankees have a terrific website,
and no, I am not a Yankee fan -- nor am I a Yankee
hater).
The great value of Gamecast for me is that I can do whatever I want to do online or on my computer, with extremely limited distraction, and not miss any of the action. For example, on Monday evening, I was preparing a consulting report as I watched the game. I certainly could have taken in the game by television or radio; these mediums, however, would have required more of my cognitive attention, attention that I wanted to devote to my consulting activity. I did not feel that I missed any of the action by watching the game through Gamecast. At the end of the game, I tried to find coverage of the winner's celebration. This was somewhat limited. Incidentally, I did find myself following one of the merchandise links from ESPN and shopping a bit. It was very easy to do, though, I did not buy anything.
