24/7 DIARY ENTRY

Dear Diary
November  5
My Rolls Royce has arrived to town.  I had been shopping heavily online for a 1958 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud I.  I found many fine examples of this model, some on ebay.  In the end, however, there was one front-runner that I wanted, the family Rolls (see  Sept. 15 diary entry).  This is the one I have obtained.  It was an emotional moment (not near tears I want to make clear) as it came off the truck (great service by National Auto Transporters and Elite Auto Transporters) as I began to think about the history of that particular car and how the legacy of "Mama" would continue on; I am now the torchbearer.  "SureIs" (its license plate when it was in Kansas) will receive plenty of love and deliver a lot of pleasure in the Boston area.  It still runs.  My first Sunday drive will likely occur on November 14.

Perhaps, more significantly, another ebay order for Batman items was delivered today.  Just when you thought I couldn't buy any more Batman.  I'll admit that it was an impulse buy.  At the end of the day, I usually go to ebay and see if any interesting Batman items are up for auction in auctions that are about to end.  I spotted an auction for Batman's Villain Gallery plus several other figures at a very reasonable price with 5 minutes to go.  I put in a bid with 30 seconds to go and what do you know...I won.

Today was also Streamline installation day.  I'll give them a fair shake.  The grocery offerings appear to be reasonably extensive.  The website appearance is very clean and organized.  I like the fact that items can go on sale.  They have a very good "bulletin board" feature.  Communicating with Streamline through email is very easy, and they respond in a timely manner (this can not be said for many firms with an e-presence -- i.e., ShoesOnline.com).

The refrigerator installation was in my basement. Actually, I'm using an extra refrigerator that we had in our basement.  It would have been difficult getting the Streamline refrigerator into my basement as they sent out only ONE installer; the installer appeared strong, but come on.  One person to lug a full size frig down a set of stairs is crazy.  As it was with mine, I helped him move it into place.  Hopefully, their bins will fit inside without a hitch.  Ok, streamline, let's see what you got.

I noticed that they offer shoe repair.  One shoe repair service is shoe "stretching."  This was intriguing to me as a favorite pair of size 10 dress shoes no longer fit; my foot has grown to an 11/11.5.  I asked Streamline if shoe stretching meant that the shoes could be stretched so that they would fit me again.  Their response was not clear.

My email to Streamline
I am curious as to what "shoe stretching" means under shoe repair. I'm hoping that it might be something I can use. I have a pair of size 10 shoes that I love. For some reason, my feet have grown; I now typically buy size 11 shoes. These size 10 shoes are a bit tight; I can tolerate wearing them for about 1 hour, my toes are right at the end. Could the shoes be "stretched" so that I could now wear
them comfortably? Please let me know what is and can be done with "shoe stretching."
Thank you,
Bruce Weinberg

Streamline's response
Dear Bruce,
It sounds like the shoe stretching service might just be the answer to your problem with the tight shoes. Place the shoes in the shoe repair bags, with a slip stating your name, account number and what repair you would like done. Thank you for your message.

Shoe-stretching was not defined.  I would like to hear from the cobbler.  I'll try to reach the shoe repair person and get a more certain answer.

The Boston Celtics won again; they are 3-0.  Whooohoooo.  This is going to be a good year for the C's.
