24/7 DIARY ENTRY

Dear Diary
November 21
I purchased a "still sealed, never used" version of Aladdin on eBay for $13.00.  Last evening, I cruised over to eBay before I went to bed and saw that an auction for an unopened video of Aladdin was about to end in seven minutes.  The bid was at $12.50.  I waited until there were about 20 seconds remaining in the auction and put in a bid for $15.00.  It turns out that $13.00 was enough to win the auction, and so I did.

This afternoon, I finally received an email from BigStar informing me that their Aladdin listing is indeed the Spanish dubbed version.

BigStar's email:
Hello,

"Spanish Dubbed" means that the movie is in Spanish. This is currently the only version that is available from the studio. The English language version is out of print.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank You
Michael

Sometimes one has to trust their "spidey" sense; it appears that making my purchase through eBay was the right move.  This was my first online video purchase;  I hope that counterfeiting and bootlegging are not common concerns for people buying videos through eBay.  Many used versions were available for sale;  I preferred an unused version.  For science and the benefit of all humanity, I am willing to take some risks.

Marilyn, my mother-in-law, who reads my website regularly -- thanks Marilyn -- has asked me to make a video purchase for her.  She wants the 1966 Batman motion picture; it is not for me.  :-(

Tomorrow, I'll report on the arrival of my Thanksgiving order from HomeRuns (I miss you my old friend; I feel bad that Streamline has come between us).
