24/7 DIARY ENTRY

Dear Diary
December 2
Let the countdown to the millennium begin.  My 31st and 30th favorite things to buy online are General Mills Wheaties cereal and Alden Merrell carrot cake, respectively.  I should be making some interesting purchases over the next few days as the refrigerator light bulb burned out (it is not a standard size), my calculator batteries finally died (they lasted over 10 years, Hewlett Packard rules), and the handle on my briefcase is pulling away and needs repair.

I returned from a 1+ day business trip today and noticed that the mouse had been playing while the cat was away.  I checked into Streamline and saw that Amy had sent them an email about a quiche that we had purchased.

Amy's email

We ordered a grilled vegetable quiche, which we received on 11/18/99. I prepared the quiche the next night and was very disappointed with the quality. The quiche was a somewhat runny consistency and thus, no one in my family would eat it. I followed the enclosed instructions and even cooked it a bit longer. We would like a credit for the quiche.  I hope your next vendor of prepared foods is more consistent, in terms of quality. What about Baker's Best in Newton or Isabella's in Dedham?

Thank you.

Amy and Bruce

Streamline's Response

Hi Bruce

I will credit you for the quiche. Please accept our apology for the quality of this item. Thank you for the suggestions you sent us. I have forwarded this information to our Prepared Meal Manager.

Sincerely
Jeanne (I withheld her last name)
Customer Service

Am I a lucky guy or what?  You go girl.  (I noticed that Streamline's email response was addressed to me.  Leaving Amy's name off of the reply is not quite enough to earn a Noosie; I was tempted.) I do recall that dinner; we've had better.  The quiche was far from delectable (i.e., it was blaah).  My wife is a great chef; she has attended many cooking classes and even attended a week long cooking series at The Greenbrier.  You know what they say...the family that writes in emails to let Streamline know that a product was not of good quality and that they should provide a refund...stays together.
