24/7 DIARY ENTRY

Dear Diary
December 30
Rx.com wins the race and earns a Brucie for speed with standard delivery.  My order for Mylanta cherry tablets arrived at around noon today.  Though I had not heard from Rx.com since they confirmed receipt of my order, they were obviously using their time to get my order out the door and into my hands as quickly as possible.  Now I can look forward to a Mylanta moment.  I will be eating a gourmet meal on New Year's Eve.  Perhaps -- for science, of course -- I'll eat a little bit more than usual (e.g., a little extra caviar here, and a little extra chocolate there); and then turn to my order from Rx.com for relief.  Thank you Rx.com.  Enjoy the Brucie, you've earned it.

Does this mean that CVS.com gets left out in the cold?  No, not at all.  Yesterday, the two boys went out for a haircut in Harvard Square at Custom Barber Shop (a Brucie to John M. for doing a great job).  Ben and Sam were fascinated with the items on display in their window, stuffed animals from the movie Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (which I recently purchased on December 24 from Kozmo.com).  These stuffed animals are carried exclusively by CVS and I ordered six of the figures from them.  This order, however, had a little bit of a twist.

I decided to create another order fulfillment race by placing three separate orders for two items each, rather than one order for six items.  This way CVS will definitely win, and this will hopefully buck them up a little after getting creamed by Rx.com.  In addition, I get to find out whether CVS will combine the orders on its own (the orders were all placed within a span of three minutes); or, if it does not, I will see if each order arrives simultaneously.

Our Streamline order arrived today, and, again, they forgot to deliver some items -- our frozen foods.  Amy noticed this immediately after the driver pulled away.  I informed Streamline central command, and they said that they would deliver the items tomorrow.  I suggested that they contact the driver as he was just here, and then ask him to loop back to our house.  The service agent claimed that no one was available to deliver (?).  Anyway, thirty minutes later, the driver returned with our frozen foods in hand; he said that he was indeed contacted and informed about not unloading these items.  Alas, the container itself was missing our order for two pints of Ben & Jerry's ice cream (I was counting on these items arriving so that I could generate a Mylanta moment tomorrow).  I subsequently contacted Streamline and asked them to deliver these items New Year's Eve day.

I must say that the driver was pleasant, and I have always found all of the service people at Streamline to be pleasant.  They are good people.  If only their business model were different, then I would be a loyal loving customer.

By the way, the Yellow Submarine George Harrison for sale at Amazon.com was down to "usually ships in 2-3 days" this morning, and is "currently unavailable" this evening.  I read in the news today that George and his wife, Olivia, were attacked and stabbed with a knife by an assailant at around 5:00 am today.  Get well soon George and Olivia.

Crime | Wife May Have Saved George Harrison

George Harrison’s wife Olivia may have saved her husband’s life, hitting a knife-wielding intruder on the head with a lamp. The ex-Beatle is in stable condition with a stab wound that came perilously close to his heart. Police arrest a 33-year-old man who reportedly hates the Beatles and believes them to be witches.

My 2nd favorite thing to buy online is Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer video from Kozmo.com.
